Our Business
We're not sure how many people would care, but... if you do, we want to have a brief description about how we're handling business. Separate from all the boiler plate legal language.
One of our goals, whenever reasonable, is to be as independent as possible. We are not tied to any massive corporation, we're not a shop on a social media site, we're not a marketplace that's just a part of billion dollar organization. We curate, purchase, store and ship from within the 4 walls of our business. There's no one 'behind the curtain' other than us.
Our infrastructure is built on open source software, retaining as little data about our customers as possible. We need to hold onto your shipping info to get you stuff in the mail, but we don't retain visitor data. >
We hate to use advertising, but when we do we're not retaining any identifiable data about the people who are visiting. We don't use tracking cookies or pixels. We know there's value in that, but it's not the type of store we want to be. If you like something, you'll buy it. We really only use ads as a way of letting people know we exist.
All credit card/financial transactions are handled through large, trusted entities such as Square, Stripe, GooglePay and ApplePay because... it's the right thing to do with your financial information. It'd be irresponsible to think we can do better. Same thing is true with anything security releated, we use proven solutions and providers.
Otherwise we use free software whenever possible, do our own development whenever possible so we are absolutely certain what everything is doing. We're very much approaching this from a DIY, Web 1.0 perspective.
